COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund — Housing Stabilization

ATTENTION:

The Give2SF Housing Stabilization Program is currently reviewing applications submitted on or before Wednesday, July 8, 2020. If you applied during that time, you will have received a status notification about your application. If your application was not selected in this round of application review, please do not reapply. Your application will be considered again in future rounds of application review.

For homeowners who have been financially impacted by COVID-19, please consider applying to the COVID-19 Homeowner Emergency Loan Program (HELP): https://sfmohcd.org/COVID19HELP.

For tenants who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and are unable to pay rents due between March 13 and July 31, these rents will be due January 31, 2021. You should notify your landlord. The City and County of San Francisco’s Give2SF Fund for Housing Stabilization provides financial assistance to eligible households, regardless of immigration status, who have experienced a substantial loss of income due to COVID-19 and cannot afford their housing costs.

Eligible households may apply for up to $3,000 for assistance meeting rent, utility, and other housing costs per application period (with a total maximum amount of assistance per household of $10,000). Note: Rental assistance is not available for missed rents covered by San Francisco’s eviction moratorium. However, rents that were due prior to the moratorium (March 13) and pre- payment of future rents not covered by the moratorium may be eligible. Similarly, mortgage assistance is not available for loans that are federally insured or otherwise subject to forbearance.

To be eligible for assistance, you must meet all four criteria below:

  1. You must be a resident of San Francisco
  2. You must have an annual household income of 100% Area Median Income (AMI) or less pre-March 2020:
    • 1 Person : $89,650
    • 2 People : $102,500
    • 3 People : $115,300
    • 4 People : $128,100
    • 5 People : $138,350
    • 6 People : $148,600
    • 7 People : $158,850
    • 8 People : $169,100
    • 9 People : $179,350
  3. You must have a documented loss of income (or increased expenses) due to COVID-19-related health, employment, family, or school/childcare issues
  4. You are experiencing housing instability or are at risk of housing instability

Funding is extremely limited and applications will be prioritized based on need and severity of COVID-19 impact. If your application is selected for assistance, you will be asked to provide documentation to verify eligibility, including but not limited to:

  • Identification
  • Proof of San Francisco residency (such as a utility bill)
  • Income documents (such as pay stubs)
  • Lease agreement
  • Documentation of the COVID-19-related loss of income (or increased expenses)
